Curationis

Curationis is the official research magazine of DENOSA. Curationis is an accredited research
journal that is published quarterly. This means that as an accredited research journal, the magazine appears on a list published by the National Department of Education. This list contains the names of all magazines that comply with the minimum criteria for accreditation with the Department of Education. Every person who is responsible for making decisions regarding health, health care, nurses, nursing and other related issues should read Curationis. No one will be in a position to take an informed decision with regard to such matters unless they are aware of the latest research and developments as published in Curationis. Articles contained in Curationis are mainly of a research nature although other articles are also published. The broad categories of papers published include:

  • Research papers
  • Review articles
  • Congress papers
  • Congress papers
  • Philosophical discourses on critical issues such as ethics, etc.

Use is made of a panel of very competent and highlyl qualified reviewers who are responsible to review every article before it is finally accepted for publication. Several international individuals also serve on the panel. To qualify for appointment as a member of the review panel, a person must first convince the Editorial Board of his/her own research and writing skills. Proof is usually in the form of successful publication of research articles in accredited journals. A system of 'blind review' is used. This implies that the reviewers do not know who the author(s) of a particular paper is. This is only known to the Editor. Once at least two reviewers have to express their approval of the article in terms of the journal's stringent criteria and proposed corrections have been made, then the article will be considered for publication by the Editor.

Curationis is distributed to all Universities, Technikons and Colleges of Nursing (including all legal deposit libraries). The journal is also distributed to decision makers within the public health sector. It is furthermore also read by a variety of health care professionals and other health care providers in South Africa as well as in 28 other countries.
