Some heads-up from on public sector wage negotiations

from DENOSA Chief Negotiator, Khaya Sodidi:

.........................

Revolutionary Greetings, This is to report that there is still nothing new in the public sector salary negotiations that are currently taking place at PSCBC – The negotiations are still continuing. I can confirm that there is a progress in some areas of our demands but I would like to emphasise that it is still premature to report on those areas. It is always advisable that one should not make pronouncement before the signing of an agreement. We are on the verge of finalizing the agreement on Government Employees Housing Scheme (GEHS) and Danger Allowance that form part of the outstanding demands from 2012. The outcry about GEMS has been noted and the PSCBC is also busy with the matter. The offer of the state is at 5.8% but we are still negotiating on this one as well. The state is proposing the multi-term agreement and we are still demanding the single term. The other issues like nurses’ uniform, rural allowance and OSD are dealt with at PHSDSBC but the focus now is at PSCBC. We remain optimistic that we may conclude the salary negotiations before 1st of April 2015. I thank you for your patience on this matter and I will keep you updated.
