Student nurses from universities visit DENOSA
DENOSA welcomed 120 first-year student nurses from Sefako Makgatho University (formerly MEDUNSA) and University of Pretoria at its head office on 26 February and beginning of March, where they we here to learn about DENOSA what it offers nursing and nurses in South Africa.
Sixty students from Sefako Makgatho were welcomed by DENOSA President, Simon Hlungwani, and Second Deputy President, Letsatsi Modise. Both presidents urged them to become beacons of hope for the community members and serve them with dedication when they become nurses. Those who come from rural areas were encouraged to go back and serve their communities. Deputy President emphasised that students should take advantage of technological advancement to further their opportunities through research.
The sixty students from University of Pretoria were welcomed by DENOSA General Secretary, Madithapo Masemola. She urged them to remain in nursing and to leave their mark in the profession. DENOSA Provincial Organiser, Thomas Chauke, took both groups of students through the services that DENOSA offers nurses in general and its members in particular, such as Bookshop, Library, bursary and representation.
He also warned them about the don’ts that they should avoid at all times as students, given them basics of what to make better use of their legs, mouths, ears, eyes and hands.
