DPI conducting Health Workers For Change programme on community health workers

With community health workers regarded as ideal primary links with community members in the re-engineering of the country’s primary healthcare, DENOSA Professional Institute (DPI) is conducting a two-day workshop for community health workers working in the Tshwane District between 13 and 14 August at Arcadia Hotel, with the aim of influencing their attitude into a positive one. The workshop is conducted by DPI’s Wanda Mlotshwa and Thoko Kgongwana.
Today is last day. In Mpumalanga Sipho Khoza is conducted a similar workshop in Witbank.
Factors influencing why am I a CHW
·         Past experience
·         Needed a job
·         Financial problems
·         Volunteering and helping
·         Personal experiences
·         Wanted to become a nurses – being a community health worker would provide me with an opportunity
·         Passion for nursing
·         Family influence
·         Loving the uniform
·         Been an orphan and had no love for community health work but found patients who love her honestly
These are some of the reasons health workers gave as their reasons for becoming health workers during the Health Workers For Change programme that DENOSA Professional Institute (DPI) is holding for some of the Tshwane District health workers.
