Eastern Cape holds Gender workshop

On 6-7 August 2015, Eastern Cape held its first Gender Workshop in East London. On the first day, Genderdynamix facilitated the workshop. On the second day, there was a launch of the provincial gender committee by 2nd Deputy President, Cde Thandeka Msibi.

The focus of the workshop was introduction to transgender: the session explored the concepts of transgenderism and intersexuality. How have academics understood it and how it intersex with culture? It further explored how health service providers can incorporate cultural understandings in their daily servicing of transgender and intersex clients. Health service considerations and provisions for trans-patients.
