Re : Progress on Hours of work & community service posts for 2016
Receive Revolutionary Greetings,
Please receive and share with all Denosa members & nurses the following update which is crucial,
1) Hours of work policy
Please note that the work of the task team on hours of work which was established to deal with the areas of disagreements in the policy was ratified by the chamber meeting held yesterday (03/11/15) and we have agreed with the employer that a circular will be issued latest Friday to withdraw the policy that was issued initially and be replaced by the one that we have all agreed on. The practice of counting 12 hours as 11 hours and paying back hours after you were sick is now a thing of the past.
2) Community service nurses posts for 2015 & 2016
Please note that we are busy with the matter and Denosa’s position on the matter is clear #RetrenchmentsOfNursesMustFall and #FundedPostsForNursesMustRise.
We have held bilateral talks with Gauteng Health on the matter and our last meeting was Monday (02/11/15) and we have agreed on a process to ensure all community service nurses must be employed after completion of community service, meaning no employment should be terminated by the 31/12/15 as the letters given out by the respective hospitals in the province suggested so. We must bring it to your attention that such letters are not mandated by the department of health in Gauteng but a mandate of the brains of these HR managers and CEO’s.
In the meantime while an audit of the vacant funded posts and budget is being done and will be tabled in a follow up meeting on the 12 of November 2015, a circular will be issued to assure all nurses affected and to nullify all the retrenchment letters handed out to community service nurses.
We further wish to advise all community service nurses affected not to sign anything that relates to this subject without checking with DENOSA.
A secondary update report will be issued after the meeting of the 12 November 2015.
