DENOSA mourns the passing of its founding member, Mrs Mary Jwaai
DENOSA mourns the passing of a nursing stalwart and a founding member of DENOSA, Mrs Mary Jwaai. She played a critical role in the formation of DENOSA as a home for all nurses in South Africa at the time when nurses were divided along racial and homelands lines.
Soon after DENOSA was established, she was Manager of the organisation. She was one of the first NEC members of the organisation who laid the ground for the organisation to fight the struggle for nurses.
Her memorial service is today at the Diepkloof Hall in Soweto. Her funeral service will be on Saturday at the Thaba Jabula Senior Secondary School in Extension 1 Diepkloof, Soweto.
DENOSA applauds her for her selflessness and ever willingness to fight the course of nurses and nursing in South Africa throughout her life.
While the nursing has lost a stalwart, DENOSA believes she lived her life for a full purpose, and the freedom of nurses today is testimony of the great contribution that she has played in the profession.
DENOSA calls on all its family to honour this stalwart as we lay her to her resting place on Saturday.
May her Soul Rest in Peace.
