DENOSA congratulates DRC Nurses Association

DENOSA congratulates the Nurses Association in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) led by President, Komba Djeko, for its success in working towards the finalization of the Nurses Act in the DRC as a way of formalizing the nursing profession for the first time in the DRC.
The President of the DRC recently signed the Nurses Act into law, which paved the way for the establishment of nursing regulatory body in the DRC, which will look into quality and standard of nursing through education, policy, and practice.
As part of Southern African Network of Nurses and Midwives (SANNAM), DENOSA has on many occasions shared knowledge and experiences with the nurses association in DRC on the fundamentals that must be in place for a regulatory body and the role of nurses’ association or union in a country.
As Sub-Saharan Africa makes up a great percentage of disease burden in the world, establishment of a regulatory body will ensure that nursing cadres in the DRC are looked after in terms of their continuous professional development needs, a nursing curriculum that is responsive to the health needs of citizens as well as the quality of nursing healthcare delivery that is at the correct level.
