DENOSA Mpumalanga holds talks with Premier on pressing nursing issues

DENOSA Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) members in Mpumalanga held some bilateral talks with the Premier of the province in Mbombela on 21 May about burning issues affecting nurses in the province, namely:

  • The ever shrinking funding/budget. 
  •  Poor state of infrastructure in many health facilities in the province
  • Severe shortage of nurses in many health facilities.
  • Lack of safety in the workplaceThe need to relook funding model for nursing education annd immediate return to a PERSAL system.
  • The need for Health MEC to go.

The DENOSA team was led by Provincial Office Bearers, while the Premier had the provincial team including the MEC of Health.

The next meeting will be about the responses from the Premier and the presentation of a Programme of Action in tackling these issues.
