DENOSA Gauteng intensifies protest over uniform allowance

Thousands of nurses in Gauteng, under the banner of DENOSA, have intensified their protest over non-payment of Uniform Allowance by the Department of Health in the province, which should have been paid in April this year.

More and more nurses are joining the passive protest where nurses turn up to work on time and render full service, but not in uniform as the one they have is torn and government has not effected the payment yet, let alone a commitment.

DENOSA Provincial Chairperson, Simphiwe Gada, says the organisation will get a report from the Department in Tuesday on when it plans to pay the nurses.

The protest follows fruitless outcomes of the meeting between organised labour and the department at the provincial chamber over the same issue on 16 August.
