DENOSA welcomes appointment of Dr Phophi Ramathuba as MEC of Health in Limpopo

Media statement

Friday, 29 May 2015

The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) warmly welcomes the appointment of Dr Phophi Ramathuba as the MEC of Health in Limpopo, and we pledge our full support whenever she needs it.

She is a tried and tested leader in the struggle for better healthcare for all South Africans, having been a leader of South African Medical Association (SAMA), and recently the president of its trade union. Her passion for corrective attitude towards health challenges, among other things, is what gives DENOSA comfort that the department will do well.

DENOSA still stands by its position that it is an ideal for a health department to be led, politically, by a leader with a health background for a speedy solution to the many challenges in the health sector.

As we doctors and nurses have embarked on a Positive Practice Environment (PPE) campaign since February 2013, we have no doubt that, in principle, she will be supportive of this campaign as it seeks to bring together health professionals, community members and government together in finding solutions to the many health challenges in the country, province by province.

We undertake to support her as an organisation in every way possible. We wish her all the best.
