DENOSA urges travelers to drive safely this Easter Weekend because there are few nurses in health facilities
Media statement
Thursday, 29 March 2018
The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) would once again wish to urge all those who will be travelling to various destinations this Easter Weekend to travel safely and remember that there are few health workers especially in health facilities on the outskirts of big cities.
Those who will be driving must obey the rules of the road all the time, get enough rest and must drink enough water so that they remain hydrated during their journey.
Deaths from injuries caused by accidents are still one of the leading causes of death in South Africa, and these often happen in times like these. Often, patients succumb to their injuries because of the long time it takes to receive medical attention after the accident has occurred due to the distance between accident scene and health facilities.
Most accidents occur in the middle of nowhere and often in ungodly hours, and the nearest facilities are often faced with severe shortages of staff and equipment.
DENOSA wishes all nurses good strength as most of them will be hard at work saving lives during this period.
To those who will be travelling, DENOSA message is: Arrive Alive.
On behalf of nurses, DENOSA wishes all South Africans a Happy and Healthy Easter Weekend.
