Nigerian Presidential Health Committee visit DENOSA on fact-finding mission on public service unions in SA
As part of its programme to visit public service sector unions in its fact-finding mission on the relationship management between unions in South Africa and government, the Nigerian Presidential Health Committee visited the DENOSA head office on Tuesday (30 September).
They were welcomed by DENOSA General Secretary, Thembeka Gwagwa, 2nd Deputy President, Thandeka Msibi, and two deputy general secretaries (for operations: David Makhombe, and for membership: Madithapo Masemola) and were taken through the organisation, its structure and how it relates to government and all other key stakeholders.
Some of the challenges were also shared between the two parties in the meeting, which was facilitated by the National Department of Health, which was represented by three members.
Some of the questions answered by DENOSA in shedding light about its organisation were:
How is DENOSA survived?
What does DPI do and what programmes does it offer?
What are salary levels and structure?
How does DENOSA manage the issue of the right to strike versus the right health as its members offer essential service?
