DENOSA supports 16 Days of Activism
The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa fully support the Campaign on 16 Days of Activism Against Abuse of Women and Children
With the majority of nurses being female, the constant abuse on women affects them the most, and DENOSA says this must come to a stop. DENOSA calls upon all South Africans to unite behind the campaign protect the vulnerable in our society.
DENOSA also calls on the justice system to do everything possible by sending a strong message that those found guilty of abuse of women and children pay the heavy prize for their deeds.
Already, nurses have fallen victims to abuse within hours of the campaign having kicked off. A nurse was shot more than eight times at Kwa-dabeka Clinic in KwaZulu Natal on Tuesday night, and she died instantly. We call on the community members to assist law enforcement agencies in bringing perpetrators to book. A doctor in Willowvale, Eastern Cape, was brutally attacked at her home in the early hours of this morning, and is now fighting for her life in hospital.
