Update on public sector wage negotiations
DENOSA Chief Negotiator, Khaya Sodidi, gives an update on the public sector wage negotiations:
Dear DENOSA members,
This is to report that the conciliation process for public service salary negotiations resumed yesterday. Organised labour was responding to the final offer that was tabled by the state on 8 May 2015. All eight (8) admitted unions to PSCBC i.e. DENOSA, NEHAWU, POPCRU, SADTU, PSA, NAPTOSA, HOSPERSA & SAPU are talking with one voice that the state must improve its final offer. However, some of the unions indicated that they are still concluding their final mandat...
Parties have agreed to conclude all mandate collection processes by 18 May 2015. The conciliation process will then resume on 19 May 2015 and all eight (8) unions will table a consolidated final mandate from members which may result in signing the agreement or rejecting the final offer of the employer.
This is also to remind you comrades that our last congress had adopted the Mandatory Process Model of which the provinces are custodians. This is a model we need to follow at all times when we consult members or seek a mandate from members. This model is applied in constitutional structures of the organization and nowhere else. This means therefore that, under no circumstances that our social media networks i.e. facebook, twitter and WhatsApp can be used as consultation or mandating seeking forums – we cannot take “short cuts” on this one comrades!
The impact of these social media forums cannot be under estimated as they reach members in huge numbers in the split of a second. This of course, helps the organization to keep the members updated with crucial information at all the times without unnecessary delay. Your views and constructive criticism is always welcomed and it is giving the leadership and officials an idea of what is the general feeling of members at grass root level and those who are not members but who like and follow DENOSA. But unfortunately, they remain unconstitutional and are not part of the mandatory process model.
This means that, institutional/branch meetings and other constitutional meetings remain the only forums to get a mandate from members not here. Michael Kors Outlet
