First day of 3rd SA Nurses' Conference underway

Day one of the 3rd SA Nurses Conference has kick-started on 24 February at  Birchwood in Benoni.

Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Mondli Gungubele, has addressed the conference, welcoming nurses to the City of Ekurhuleni, and said the metro is proud that, with his background as a nurse by profession, the city is devising a system whereby the health records of people who have been to the public service will be available at the click of a button whereever they go in clinics and hospitals.
He also emphasised his old belief, which he harboured since he was the MEC of Health in Gauteng, that it is only logical that health institutions are headed by nurses, because of the nature of how nurses are thaught about society.
"It is a fact that health is centred around nurses," he said, to the appluse of the conference.
