Nurses in jubilent mood as DENOSA Limpopo host 20 years celebration
DENOSA Limpopo on 1 December celebrated 20 year anniversary of DENOSA’s existence at Polokwane Royal, Limpopo. Nurses were in a jovial mood.
DENOSA General Secretary, Oscar Phaka, addressed the nurses as he said let people do their work and nurses will do their part. "I am good at what I do and I was trained by the best. Let us not be apologetic for being nurses. We are the best. Yes, we support NHI, but where will it go without nurses?”.
He further urged the Learner Movement to roll up their sleeves and ensure that DENOSA is well. He quoted Madiba at Denosa launch in 1996, who said "We expect a lot from DENOSA, you dare not disappoint us". "As young lions you are the ones who will tell the old nurses that DENOSA is still well. You too dare not disappoint us!"
COSATU Provincial Secretary, Gerald Twala, congratulated Denosa. "We know that your national birthday is on 5 December. "We celebrate with you as COSATU. We have no appetite to speak about politics today.
We are happy from 1996, until today we still have a strong nurses union still standing tally! You have the potential to grow your membership to more than 10 000. Let us make Denosa the only choice for nurses in SA. Let us make sure that all nurses belong to Denosa." Once Denosa grows, COSATU also grows."
Hardworking regions, locals, branches, shop stewards and veterans were honoured.
