Latest update on Public Sector Wage Negotiations

Dear DENOSA member.

This is to give an update on the public sector wage negotiations that are currently underway.

Negotiations resumed at PSCBC in Centurion yesterday at 10h00am.

Surprisingly, Government came with the same offer they tabled in the previous meeting (5.5% for salary levels 1-10; and 4.5% for salary levels 11-12) despite having asked for some time off to consult the principals last week on Tuesday.

This was a different offer from the one tabled by the same government before Cabinet reshuffle at PSCBC (which was:

CPI plus 1.5% for salary levels 1-7;
CPI plus 1% for salary levels 8-10; and
CPI plus 0.5% for salary levels 11-12).

Labour negotiators locked them when they wanted to leave by lining up cars at the gates of the Council. Principals of both parties are on their way to PSCBC and will meet at 08h00 on the way forward.

Formal negotiations are due to resume at 17h00 today.

We will keep you up to date.
