The purpose of this position:
The aim is to enhance DENOSA’s organisational capacity and member representation within the province. The Provincial Organiser plays a crucial role in achieving DENOSA’s strategic objectives by coordinating recruitment, organising, and providing professional support across the public and private sectors. The incumbent is responsible for delivering effective member servicing, fostering organisational growth, and safeguarding members’ professional and labour rights by actively participating in dispute-resolution and collective bargaining processes.
Inherent Job Requirements:
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) is a prerequisite.
- Proven experience in professional nursing matters.
- Demonstrate experience in labour-related issues, dispute resolution, organising, campaigns, and collective bargaining processes.
- Sound knowledge of the South African health system and its policy environment.
- Strong negotiation, communication, organising, recruitment, administration, and facilitation skills.
- A valid light-duty driver’s licence is required.
Responsibilities:
- Representation
- Attend to all labour-related matters of DENOSA across all organisational structures (local, branch, regional, and provincial) to advance the union’s mandate.
- Ensure ongoing consultation with the Provincial Secretary on matters requiring further mandate or strategic direction.
- Participate in COSATU programmes and activities as delegated.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive and timeous reports on all representation matters to the Provincial Secretary.
- Ensure professional and effective case representation of members at SANC level.
- Education and Training
- Assist in the planning and implementation of education and training initiatives aimed at strengthening organisational capacity and enhancing member awareness.
- Share information on developments within the union and its affiliates or related structures.
- Contribute to the education and development of union officials on sectoral debates, policy developments, and emerging labour trends.
- Bargaining
- Participate in collective bargaining processes and negotiations on behalf of DENOSA, strictly guided by the organisation’s mandate in both the public and private sectors.
- Represent members’ interests in recognised bargaining forums in both sectors.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at retaining existing membership and growing new membership in the public and private sectors.
- Ensure that all approved bargaining initiatives and negotiated outcomes are correctly recorded, communicated, and implemented.
- Organising and Campaigns
- Develop and implement recruitment, retention, organising, and campaign strategies aligned with DENOSA’s strategic objectives.
- Establish, maintain, and strengthen effective and responsive member-servicing systems.
- Provide professional support and assistance to members in line with organisational standards.
- Maintain and support the organisational structures within the province.
- Market the organisation and actively drive sustainable membership growth.

Job Specification
The Provincial Administrator is responsible for providing efficient administrative, membership administration, office operations, and delegated financial processes within the Western Cape Provincial Office of DENOSA.
Inherent Job Requirements:
- Matric plus a Public Administration Diploma/Degree.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in office administration, and financial administration (quotations, banking, reconciliation, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Administration
- Source, compile, and evaluate quotations in compliance with approved procurement and supply chain management policies.
- Capture, process, and submit all financial transactions accurately on the Pastel Accounting System.
- Reconcile invoices and verify the completeness and accuracy of all supporting documentation before payment processing.
- Perform banking-related functions, including preparation and submission of payment batches, verification of beneficiary details, and processing of electronic fund transfers (EFTs) in line with approved signatory mandates and finance policies.
- Prepare and submit monthly financial reports to the Provincial Secretary and Head Office in accordance with reporting timelines.
- Monitor and track budgets to ensure expenditure aligns with approved allocations and organisational financial controls.
- Support internal and external audit processes, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and organisational financial requirements.
2. Membership Administration
- Capturing membership and loading forms on the system within 3 days of receipt.
- Reporting any challenges during capturing immediately
- Checking the monthly membership growth on the mass Q-link system to make sure that all forms captured are deducted, and do a follow-up on the members whose membership is not active and reinstate them.
- Assisting all members with their funeral claims and following up with the National office on unpaid claims.
- Assist all members coming to the office to pay their membership subscriptions and refer them to relevant officials.
- Assist with the distribution of the cooperative items (diaries, calendars, and IND items) we have in the office to the members and make sure that they are distributed to regions so they can reach all the members.
- Master all relevant applications of membership administration on Q-link.
- Attend to all telephonic membership queries immediately.
- Requesting membership from the regional district offices to verify it with the one we have on the system, to make sure that our members are located in the province.
- Migrate all members to their respective facilities.
- Update membership contact, personal information, and address details on the system.
- Monitor members in arrears monthly, report, and contact members to retain their membership
3. Office Administration & Operational Requirements
- Assist with Provincial office operations.
- Ensure effective filing systems (manual and electronic)
- Correspondence, minutes, and records
- Scheduling meetings and coordinating logistics
- Provide administrative support to provincial events, meetings (minute taking in PEC, FINCOM, and other related meetings), and organisational programmes.
- Knowledge of office systems, policies, and administrative governance.
- Manage Diaries meetings and conferences.
- Schedule appointments for all officials.
- Observe all policies of the organization in execution of duties, e.g., leave, pool car, assets, etc., and keep an accurate record.
Attributes:
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and deadline-oriented.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Internet, and e-mail.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written).
- Able to work on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to work independently, as well as in teams.
- Must be able to work in a highly pressurized environment.
