The 2nd Presidential Health Summit, which took place between 04 and 05 May 2023 at Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg, came out with the new compact to improve the country’s healthcare system, with a special focus towards the ushering in of the Universal Health Coverage.
This Summit looked at 10 key pillars to improve the country’s healthcare system. The pillars include Human Resources Development Plan, Leadership and Governance and Informations systems.
The Summit takes place at the time when the country is faced with various challenges on its healthcare system.
Key to the country’s healthcare challenges are the budgetary constraints owing to a shrinking economy, high rate of vacancies in healthcare facilities, braindrain whereby skilled healthcare professionals are leaving the country for greener pastures, as well as the aging nursing population.
Present at the Summit on behalf of DENOSA are the national office bearers led by President Simon Hlungwani and officials.
The state President, Cyrillic Ramaphosa is due to close the Summit on the last day at 14h00.
