JOHANNESBURG – The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) in Gauteng wishes to warn the public about a circulating scam on social media platforms, purporting to seek both monetary and material donations for the family of the nurse who was fatally shot at Tembisa Hospital two days ago.
DENOSA has confirmed with the family of our member, and the banking details on the scam brochure do not belong to any of the family members. DENOSA urges both the nursing population and the public to ignore this scam, which merely seeks to benefit opportunistically from the agony of the Monene family in this trying time.
Both DENOSA and the Tembisa Hospital have pledged to support the Monene family with the costs of the funeral arrangements, as will do the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) that the deceased nurse was a member of (over and above the funeral policy she may have belonged to).
DENOSA reiterates that this pamphlet that is currently circulating on social media platforms is not genuine. It is fake.
