Celebrating 27 years of uniting nurses

DENOSA NEC meeting reconvenes in Pretoria.

DENOSA’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting has reconvened at the DENOSA Head Offices in Pretoria on Thursday 9 February 2023, where it is due to conclude its business after it adjourned in December due to many programmes that needed its attention.

The NEC is the highest decision-making structure of DENOSA in-between congresses and its role is to oversee the functioning of the organisation. The DENOSA NEC is attended by National Office Bearers (NOBs) and three representatives per province, namely the Provincial Chairpersons and Deputy Chairpersons as well as Provincial Secretary.

The NEC resumes its business on the day when the state President, Cyril Ramaphosa, will deliver his State of the Nation Address in Parliament at 19h00. DENOSA’s expectations from this year’s SONA are clear plans on the implementation of the National Health Insurance (NHI) as well as the solution on the ongoing challenge of deteriorating quality of healthcare services in facilities as a result of shortage of nurses.

The NEC is also expected to reflect on the next course of action on the ongoing deadlocked salary negotiations at the Public Sector Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC) for the 2022/23 financial year, which ends at the end of March 2023.

The NEC is also expected finalise the dates for congresses for all its organisational structures, as well as intensification of member servicing across the country.
