GQEBERHA – In a symbolic gesture of the elders in the nursing profession handing over the nursing torch to the younger generation, retired nurses and formers DENOSA leaders in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro in Gqeberha officially handed over the collection of nursing textbooks to the young nursing leaders led by DENOSA at the ceremony that was held at the Lilitha Nursing College’s Gqeberha Campus on Friday 14 July 2023.
This was the culmination of the efforts by the retired nurses who collected nursing textbooks from the nurses who have since retired, as a mean to create knowledge reservoir and fountain for the current nursing students and practicing nurses.
The books were handed over to the DENOSA in the presence of Lilitha’s Principal for the PE Campus as well as the Department of Health in the District.
Present to accept the books were DENOSA provincial leaders, regional as well as local leaders.
These books will form part of the nurses’ knowledge and information back-up which will be stored in the DENOSA Library for the usage of the nurses.
DENOSA is proud of the role that the retired nurses continue to play in both the profession and the organisation that they formed and led in different structures.
