Date: 04 July 2022
JOHANNESBURG – The Democratic Nursing Organisation South Africa (DENOSA) in Gauteng has noted the media statement released by Gauteng Health yesterday, the 3rd of July 2022, wherein it committed to commence the process of paying all the affected nurses from today.
While we note the response and the commitment made by the department, however, DENOSA Gauteng is not going to applaud Gauteng Health for doing what they should have done in the beginning. DENOSA Gauteng will only believe the commitment made under pressure by Gauteng Health only when it materialises.
In the meantime, DENOSA Gauteng will continue with its plans to mobilise nurses in Gauteng in order to pay a visit to the Premier of Gauteng, Gauteng Treasury and Gauteng Health because we remain convinced that Gauteng Health and the Provincial government must give us a firm commitment that all the 727nurses (2022/23 cohort) who are currently doing their community service will not be retrenched in the next six months, that is on the 1stof January 2022.
DENOSA is tired of having to fight every beginning of the year for nurses to be employed while it is evident that the province of Gauteng continues experiencing nurse shortages in the various health facilities.
We call on all nurses in the province to mobilise for a march that will reclaim the dignity of nurses in Gauteng and that will deal with the nurse shortages that we are currently experiencing in the province.
DENOSA Gauteng will take to the streets under the following conditions:
Date : 20 July 2022
Time : 09:00 am
Venue : Outside COSATU HOUSE in Braamfontein (then proceed to our destinations)
We will also be embarking on a mass mobilization programme to mobilise nurses and other stakeholders to form part of this noble cause in defence of our healthcare system in the Gauteng province.
